Featured Artist: Connie Lynn Reilly

November 8, 2012

Native Atlantan artist Connie Lynn Reilly is the Cobb Chamber’s featured artist in the Diana Brehm Williams Art Gallery through December. Reilly started at an early age with an innate desire to bring subjects to life through drawing and painting. With no formal training, Reilly did a great deal of independent study with every art book she could get her hands on, drawing and painting for long hours. She was able to learn how to carefully pose and position her subjects to evoke mood and feeling in her paintings.

Reilly’s art is in numerous private, public and museum collections including the Booth Museum, Tennessee Tech University, Atlanta History Center, John Bell Hood Society, St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Royal Palace of Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Museum of Church History and Art of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is published in national and international publications, including a feature in a North Light book entitled “The Best of Portrait Painting” and the International Artist Magazine, and has also been featured as a guest on several local television shows.

Images of American history are prevalent in Reilly’s works, with a special emphasis on the portrayal of the Civil War, Revolutionary War and Western Pioneer Settlement periods. She is currently working on illustrations for children’s books and other commissioned projects.
