Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez and Kansas City Royals Manager Ned Yost Speak to Chairman’s Club

February 8, 2012

The two influential major league baseball managers came to The Atlanta Marriott Northwest on Monday, Jan. 23, to discuss their new business venture, Lakepoint Sporting Community and Town Center.  The proposed 1,380 sports destination epicenter will feature commercial, retail and mixed-use facilities and will be the latest innovation destination for sports combines and technology. The Sporting Community has already broken gound near Emerson, Georgia in Bartow County, and will feature 16 tournament baseball fields, 14 lacrosse and soccer fields, a 118,000-square foot indoor sports pavilion for lacrosse, soccer, wrestling, baseball, volleyball, gymnastics and cheerleading.

Fellow development partners, including former Braves manager Bobby Cox, estimate that the sports facility will bring in three million visitors a year. This estimate would translate to 2,400 immediate Georgia jobs and a potential 26,000 over the next decade. More information about the new project can be seen at http://www.lakepointsports.com/. Pictures from the Chairman’s Club Breakfast Meeting can be viewed below. The event was presented by Chairman’s Club Series Sponsor Georgia Power and Breakfast Sponsor Northside Hospital.
