Congratulations to Tad Leithead for being named ARC Chairman

December 2, 2009

The Board of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), the official planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta Region, announced its Chairman today. Cumberland Community Improvement District (CCID) Chairman Tad Leithead, who succeeds Cobb County Commission Chairman Sam Olens, will be the first citizen member to chair the ARC in its 60 year history.

The Chairman position was open after Cobb County Chairman Sam Olens chose not to seek re-election in order to run for Attorney General. Leithead previously served as a citizen member on the ARC Board and as Chairman of the Transportation and Air Quality Committee.

Leithead has been a valuable leader on a regional scale volunteering his time to work on water, transportation and many other growth issues.  With more than 23 years of experience in the Atlanta commercial real estate market, he has leased over five million square feet of office space.  Leithead was also a key participant in the development of Cobb Galleria Centre; a 300,000 square foot county-owned convention center.

Leithead has been an outstanding citizen of Cobb County, chairing the Cobb Chamber of Commerce in 1994 and Georgia’s first community improvement district. He sets an exemplary example of leadership for others. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Leithead on his new role with ARC. Leithead has been a long-time member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and is clearly one of the region’s most valued leaders.
